Quails' Gate Dijon Clone Selection Pinot Noir 2011
West Kelowna, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFrom their choicest, oldest estate Dijon clones, this is 15 year old clones 115 and 667. After a light crushing, this was native fermented in stainless, before being racked off into French oak (60% new) for 18 months. Showing beautifully now, 9 years on, and a testament to the oft-written off 2011 vintage, a cooler one that has remained firmly locked in the hearts of of acid freaks, like me. The stelvin has preserved the grape's freshness, even at 14 degrees. A lighter crimson hue, this carries layers of cherries fresh and dried, red currant, ripe wild strawberry, wild mushrooms, moss, and puffs of smoke. Tannins are fine, slightly sticky, and long, housing this slender wine to a lingering finish.
