Laughing Stock Vineyards Portfolio +07/10 2017

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe Portfolio style hasn't changed much under the new international Arterra ownership, and this big Bordeaux blend remains a solid hallmark Southern Okanagan red blend. In 2017 the blend is 48% merlot, 32% cabernet sauvignon, 14% cabernet franc, 4% malbec, and 2% petit verdot, sourced from vineyards in Naramata and Osoyoos. After ferment, this rests 20 months in French oak (48% new). Sweetly ripe, voluptuous black fruit entices from first whiff, and envelops the palate, with plush layers of blackberry, black cherry, cassis interwoven with pipe tobacco, subtle smoke. and salty olive. Tannins are soft and plump, with well integrated wood supporting the 14.2 degrees palate easily, to a warming finish. This is of a style, and it's done very well, drinking smartly now (especially with roasted lamb) but will reward with cellaring.Tasted: 24 July 2020Tasted by: Prices:
