Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe 2017 Portfolio is out, and the road to elegance continues. The blend involves all five classic Bordeaux varietals: 48% merlot, 32% cabernet sauvignon, 14% cabernet franc, 4% malbec, and 2% petit verdot. Post ferment, Portfolio spends 20 months in French oak barrels with 48% new French oak and 52% second fill barrels using fruit from three sites on the Naramata Bench and the estate-owned Perfect Hedge Vineyard in Osoyoos. Sweet tobacco and cigar box tones make a solid first impression before the savoury black cherry, black pepper, subtle vanilla, and dense ripe tannins kick in.
