Haywire Gamay Rosé 2019

Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada2019 Gamay Rosé comes entirely from the certified organic Secrest Mountain Vineyard now owned by Haywire. It is a high altitude, organically farmed site just north of Oliver. Haywire tends to tangle and be unpredictable, a term that, according to owners Chris Coletta and Steve Lornie, is an “apt description of their impromptu decision to own a winery." Rosé wines are a focus at OCP, and you can feel it through this bone-dry savoury pink that is crisp and mouthwatering. The fruit is whole bunch pressed into an 80/20 mix of both concrete and stainless steel, and fermented using native yeasts. Look for subtle hints of wild strawberry and crushed raspberries dusted with black pepper, in what is a spare, fresh version of rosé.Tasted: 25 June 2020Tasted by: Prices: BC 23.00 winery direct Producer: Okanagan Crush Pad WineryDistributors: Trialto Wine Group
