Château Dereszla Tokaji Kabar 2018
HungaryThis dry kabar comes from Sajgó, Lapis, in Hungary, and it was aged in barrel, in which I surmise to be an attempt to 'premiumize' or 'internationalize' it. That's a shame, because the local grape's unique qualities are masked by the cloak of oak, painting a thick coat of vanilla, toast, and spice over the wine. There's some perfumed florals, musk melon, and white pear sticking through, finishing with a warming 14.5% glow. If you're looking for an exotic Euro version of ripe Cali chardonnay, give this a try.Tasted: 24 May 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $36.99 | 750ml | select private wine shops |
