Quails' Gate Pinot Noir Richard's Block 2018

West Kelowna, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaRichard's Block is part of the QG Collector's Series. It takes its name from the family patriarch Richard Stewart, who recently died, leaving a long legacy in the Okanagan Valley that includes bringing pinot noir to West Kelowna in the early 1970s. The fruit comes off the oldest blocks on Mt. Boucherie just above the winery and is a mix of clones, including 115, 667, 777 and 828, now on average 15 years in age. The nose is a complex mix of minerals, damp earth, and violet undertones. The palate is round and rich, with chocolate cherry, dried herbs, and a long silky finish. A New World style best served with full-flavoured, rustic menu items like osso buco, pork shoulder, mushroom pizzas, or wild salmon. A little less refined this year but will still have broad appeal thanks to its generosity on the palate.Tasted: 22 April 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
