Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe MHFE Reserve series always offers value, but this 80/20 Meritage mix of sauvignon blanc and semillon grown in Oliver and Osoyoos estates is a super bargain. Just over 60 percent is fermented in stainless steel, the remainder in French oak, of which 15 percent was new. The nose is highly attractive with melon, citrus, and wood spice notes. The attack is fresh and vibrant with creamy mid-palate textures and intense flavours of passionfruit, guava, pineapple, and more spice. The balance is perfect, and the alcohol a minimum of 13 percent. Predominantly fermented in stainless, 38% was fermented in French oak (15% new), which is seen and felt in the spiced structure of this forward white. The mid is layered with creamy lees, bedding passionfruit, guava, pineapple rind to a potently spiced finish.
