Joseph Drouhin Côte de Beaune Rouge 2016
Côte de Beaune, Côte d'Or, Burgundy, FranceThe fruit is all estate from a 3-hectare site, as well as a high energy injection from the younger vines of Clos des Mouches and other Premier Crus of Beaune that have been declassified. The vineyard density of the massale selected clones is from 10,000 to 12,500 vines. Winemaking is minimal, as is the new oak, capped at 10 percent. The style is all Côte de Beaune: silky soft, with delicate, ethereal red fruit that persists long into a smoky, earthy, gamey finish. Another impressive vintage for this appellation that speaks well for modern Burgundy. It’s impossible to make this wine outside of Beaune, but it’s a fabulous blueprint for New World pinot to emulate.Tasted: 01 April 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $67.99 | 750ml | BCLS |
