Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada2017 is another strong showing for the Reserve chardonnay, a blend of five clones and estate vines up to 28 years old. It was natively fermented predominantly in barrel (70%) of varying sizes and from new through the third fill and went through partial MLF. After a July 2018 blending, this was returned to barrels to rest on lees. Lees plumped, this creamy, elegant white is full of while florals, ripe pear, lemon peel, and green apple vibrancy. Very much in youth, this will continue to mellow and merge with cellaring. Hold tight for a couple of years, or give it some time to open in glass now.Tasted: 18 April 2020Tasted by: Prices:

Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaWithin Blue Mountain's chardonnay program, the Reserve is meant to emphasize structure, finesse, and elegance, with an extra year or so in bottle before release to underscore its ageability. Chardonnay is often just as much about the fruit as it is the winemaking, and that's certainly the case here with bright citrus fruits and white flowers from 11-28-year-old vines, alongside restrained, refined winemaking. It's easy to guess what's bolstering this wine's complexity: a 100 percent wild fermentation, partial malolactic fermentation, and a combination of new and older barriques, puncheons, foudre, and stainless steel. The result is a beautiful expression of chardonnay that is seamlessly balanced and harmonious. And somehow under $30.Tasted: 21 May 2020Tasted by: Prices:
