Blue Mountain Reserve Chardonnay 2017

Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaWithin Blue Mountain's chardonnay program, the Reserve is meant to emphasize structure, finesse, and elegance, with an extra year or so in bottle before release to underscore its ageability. Chardonnay is often just as much about the fruit as it is the winemaking, and that's certainly the case here with bright citrus fruits and white flowers from 11-28-year-old vines, alongside restrained, refined winemaking. It's easy to guess what's bolstering this wine's complexity: a 100 percent wild fermentation, partial malolactic fermentation, and a combination of new and older barriques, puncheons, foudre, and stainless steel. The result is a beautiful expression of chardonnay that is seamlessly balanced and harmonious.
