Chateau Ste. Michelle Indian Wells Red Blend 2016

Columbia Valley, Washington, United StatesThis is quite the blend: 54% syrah, 27% merlot, 7% malbec, 4% grenache, 3% cabernet sauvignon, 2% cabernet franc, 1% cinsault, 1% barbera, and 1% mourvedre. From "warmer sites" across the Columbia Valley. It was aged for 18 months in French and American oak (29 percent new). The result is a vinous red with loads of oak spice and brambly black fruits. Medium-full bodied, the woody notes carry through to the palate with firm, grainy tannins that dry out the finish. Overall, it's a confected style that shows a lot of winemaking. It will benefit from a fatty, medium-rare burger and a slight chill.Tasted: 07 February 2020Tasted by: Geoffrey Moss MWPrices:
