Central Coast, California, United StatesBy all accounts, the 2018 edition of Treana Chardonnay, a mix of 97/3 chardonnay and marsanne, was a good one, with a long hangtime finish. The fruit comes from Monterey, Edna, and Santa Barbara Counites. 65 percent of the juice is barrel-fermented, while the remainder goes through stainless steel. The barrels get eight months of sur lie ageing, including early stirring. This medium-rich chardonnay offers creamy, caramel notes with flecks of orange and honey before an underlying freshness and green apple acidity kicks in to balance the finish.
