Treana Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo County, Central Coast, California, United StatesCabernet Sauvignon has played a significant role in the Hope Family viticultural history. The Treana cab is an ode to some of the people who influenced winemaker Austin Hope: his father Chuck Hope, his uncle Paul, and Napa Valley winemaker Chuck Wagner. The mix is 93 percent cabernet sauvignon, four percent petite sirah and three percent merlot, and petit verdot. Much like the Austin Hope Cabernet, the wine is dark, nearly opaque, with rich, ripe aromas of black currants and blackberry jam, but on the palate, the Treana is more elegance the belies its alcohol and power. I love the tobacco, clove, and cinnamon-spiked black fruit with well managed, softish tannins, and a wisp of smoke. Impressive. Drink or hold through 2025.Tasted: 24 January 2020Tasted by: Prices:
