Rodney Strong Merlot 2016
Sonoma County, California, United StatesRodney Strong Vineyards has been growing merlot for almost five decades, first at Geyserville, planted by Rodney Strong in the heart of Alexander Valley. Today the fruit comes off three Alexander Valley estate vineyards. The 2016 vintage was close to normal with overcast mornings and warm grape ripening afternoons. The RS merlot is typically round and lush with savoury dried herbs, and spicy notes in the finish. Fresh blackberries, figs, toast, and smoke rule. I fully concur with their move to entirely French oak. Try this with your favourite grilled pork chop, or lamb chop. Drink or hold through 2021.Tasted: 14 January 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $25.99 | 750ml | BCLS |
