Rodney Strong Merlot 2015
Sonoma County, California, United StatesRodney Strong Vineyards has been growing merlot for almost five decades, first at Geyserville, planted by Rodney Strong in the heart of Alexander Valley. Today the fruit comes off three different Alexander Valley sites. The 2015 vintage was warm over all, but cooler than the previous few years and you feel it in the wine. It's typically round and lush, but with a fine, savoury, dried herb note that adds interest to the mid-palate and the finish. Fresh black cherries with a hint of coffee, toast, and smoke. There is far less sweetness (no American oak here) thanks to the use of 52 percent small French oak barrels and 48 percent Hungarian oak barrels. Try this with anything from burgers to spaghetti. Hold or drink now with food.Tasted: 26 January 2019Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $25.99 | 750ml | BCLS |
