Pax The Vicar North Coast Red Wine 2016

North Coast Region, California, United StatesThis is Rhone meets California, via 50/50 Alder Springs grenache and Sonoma's Bedrock Vineyard mourvèdre. The grenache is high altitude, and the mourvèdre is old vines, planted in 1881. After a whole cluster native ferment, this aged in a single concrete egg for 18 months. Concentrated, yet with the candied lifted note from the whole cluster, this draws sapid plum, sweet cassis, wild blueberry, sapid cherry, purple florals, white pepper along a slow, concrete-textural palate, housed by sticky, plump tannins. For all it's heat-seeking grenache and old vine mourvèdre magnitude, this remains light on its feet, as is Pax's way.Tasted: 10 January 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
