Enfield Wine Co Citrine Chardonnay 2017

Sierra Foothills, California, United StatesCitrine is a yellow quartz gemstone, similar in hue to the golden yellow colour of this old vine California chardy. It is a blend of four different vineyards, with an average vine age of 40 years, and the majority from 42-year-old, own-rooted vines at Rorick Heritage Vineyard in the Sierra Foothills. The remainder includes fruit from nearby Haynes, Heron Lake, and Brosseau vineyards. After whole-cluster-pressing, this was native fermented in barrel, with full MLF. The wine aged on its own lees for one year before it was blended and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Creamy and expansive with white fruit, pear, yellow apple, custard, crystalline lemon, bedded with ample spiced wood through the lingering finish. Shining fruit, even with the cloak of oak of youth, this is a fresh, new wave Cali chardy worth watching for. This wine was bottled using Plantcorc, a sugarcane-based cork alternative.Tasted: 09 January 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
