Yalumba Samuel's Collection Eden Valley Roussanne 2018

Eden Valley, South Australia, AustraliaSamuel's Collection launched about a year ago to celebrate Yalumba's 170 years of production and to honour seven wines, varieties, and blends, which are the story of Barossa Valley. In this case, it is an Eden Valley-based roussanne that is sustainably grown and vegan-friendly. The fruit is night-harvested and goes direct to press and onto old French oak barriques to ferment (on its yeast) and age for ten months with regular bâtonnage. Simplicity rules here and the results are delicious. The nose is a riot of floral and green fruit. The attack is fresh and light with notes of honey, guava, and bright acidity that lifts the mid-palate and finish. If you love risotto, this is a perfect match for a mushroom or asparagus version. The highly respected auction house and online retailer, Langton's, describes winemaker Louisa Rose as 'a brilliantly intuitive winemaker whose white wines are some of the best in the country'. I couldn't agree more.Tasted: 05 November 2019Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
