Catena Malbec High Mountain Vines 2017

Mendoza, ArgentinaBig, ripe, and bold, but with a welcome freshness, thanks to the altitude of the three mountain estate vineyards ranging from 920-1450m. Post ferment, this spends a year in new, second, and third use barrels. This swirls with rich, ripe blackberry, potent cassis, toasty oak, and peppercorns. Tannins are ample and sticky, drawing this to the warming clove-scented finish. Bigger and riper than the last time I tasted it, this requires grilled meats or mushrooms to meet.Tasted: 10 July 2020Tasted by: Prices: BC 24.99 BCLS AB 19.20 select private retailers ON 19.95 LCBO - Essentials NS 24.00 NB 23.29 NBLiquor PEI 23.99 PLCC SK 25.99 SaskLiquor NF 24.25 NLLC MB 22.99 Manitoba Liquor Mart QC 21.90 SAQ Producer: Bodega Catena ZapataDistributors: Trialto Wine Group
