Friuli-Venezia Giulia, ItalyTasted first at the property and now a year later, this pinot gris is as good as it gets on this market, and is still full of life. From the famed Fruili DOC, it is grown on three distinct terroirs of sand, clay, and compressed sand. The differences allow the fruit to express itself in unique ways, adding just enough complexity to the mix to make it highly enjoyable on the palate. The acidity is fresh, and the combination of almonds, melons, juicy pear, and honey invite you to finish the bottle. Simply prepared fish is a good bet, but why rush? It is getting better in the bottle.Tasted: 28 October 2020Tasted by: Prices:

Friuli-Venezia Giulia, ItalyScared of Italian pinot grigio? Give this a whirl. From Friuli's low laying Gorizia hills and their marls, sandstone and clay, and near 20 year old grigio vines, this was fermented in steel and 10% barriques, prior to a four month rest in the vessels on lees. The lees is very much felt here on the round, plumped palate, cushioning pear, honeysuckle, white peach, and yellow plum on the 12.5 degree palate. There's a delicate fine spicing on the finish. Lovely ease and freshness to this substantial wine; would be ideal with fresh halibut or sablefish.Tasted: 31 October 2020Tasted by: Prices:
