M. Chapoutier Saint Joseph Les Granits Blanc 2017
Saint Joseph, Northern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceChapoutier's oldest marsanne is hand-harvested off the steep granite slopes in the south of Tournon. Half of the wine is fermented in vats, the other part in big wooden barrels (600 litres) and aged on its lees from 8 to 10 months with battonage. The nose is a tour of apricots, nuts, honey, butter, lemon, and spicy, floral aromas. The attack is elegant with honey, nuts, lemon, apricot, pear skin, and ginger that finishes long and with great persistence. Drink or hold for 50 years.Tasted: 16 October 2019Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:CDN | $71.99 | 750ml | estimated retail price |
