M. Chapoutier Saint Joseph Les Granits Blanc 2008
Saint Joseph, Northern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceChapoutier's oldest marsanne is hand harvested off the steep granite slopes in the south of Tournon. Half of the wine is fermented in vats, the other part in big wooden barrels (600 liters). Ageing on lees from 8 to 10 months with stirrings. Apricot, nutty, honey, buttery, lemon, spicy, waxy, floral aromas but a bit on the oxidative side, a stage in development for this grape. Fresh, round, juicy, elegant, smooth palate with honey, nutty, lees, vanilla, lemon, apricot, pear skin and ginger flavours. Good finesse and balance for current drinking or you can age this half a century or more.Tasted: 28 December 2011Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $72.00 | 750ml | speculative listing - Pacific Wine and Spirits |
