Clos du Soleil Capella 2017
British Columbia, CanadaCapella is the flagship white of Clos du Soleil, built around the best sauvignon blanc and sémillon of the year. In 2017, that resulted in a 74/26 sauvignon blanc/semillon blend, from two sauvignon vineyards in Keremeos, and one semillon vineyard in Oliver. After whole cluster pressing, this was partially native fermented 60% in French puncheons and the remainder in steel barrels, with full MLF. All aged on the lees with regular battonage for nine months. This is a serious wine, very well thought out, and achieved in 2017. Lemon, clover honey, tangerine, slicks of lanolin, and delicate buzzy spices lead the medium (13.5 degrees alcohol) palate, brightened with grapefruit pith, and bedded with lees. There's a beauty salinity woven throughout this, strongly encouraging sip after sip, through the lengthy finish. This elegant wine is drinking beautifully now and will continue to do so with time in the cellar.Tasted: 08 September 2019Tasted by: Prices:BC | $27.90 | 750ml | winery direct, private wine shops |
