Catena Alta Historic Rows Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Luján de Cuyo, Northern Region, Mendoza, ArgentinaI’m a sucker for the cooler vintages in Argentina because I believe they deliver a different and more exciting level of wines. Everything is done by hand and in small lots. The vineyard blocks are harvested at various times to ensure optimal acidity and moderate alcohol levels. In 2016 Historic Rows is a 94/6 mix of cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc fermented naturally, before 18 months in small French oak. The blend of La Piramide, Domingo, and Nicasia vineyards is so well balanced you can drink this wine in its third year or hold it for a decade or more. 2016 is about florals and finesse, showing the cooler side of cabernet sauvignon that is still perfectly ripe and savoury. Deep, dark, and dense, it slides down effortlessly for a cabernet and screams T-bone steak with a side order of chimichurri sauce.
