Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaLiquidy Reserve Pinot is a nice jump up in stying and quality. The complexity begins with a mix of clones: 667, 828, and 115, the latter a precious plot of own-rooted vines planted in 1994. There is a satisfying level of ripeness without being too much. The nose is plummy with red fruit compote, toasted oak, and a light dusting of pepper. On the palate, forest floor, and earthy bitter cherry notes (reminding me of Oregon) fill out the mouth from side to side, finishing long and warm. Tannins are moderate but dense, giving this pinot substantial mouth presence. Duck would be the call here. Drink or hold two to three years.Tasted: 23 April 2020Tasted by: Prices:

Liquidity Reserve Pinot Noir 2017

Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe top tier pinot at Liquidity is darker, richer and more fulsome than the delicious 'regular'. You'll find a ripe, impressive, and complex nose of plum, sweet vanilla, cherry compote and layers of satisfying flavour. Surging acidity supports dense fruit and the tannins are fairly full yet supple. This worthy reserve finishes tart, dry, youthful, and tight. Best in 3-5 years with a bit of beef. The tech sheet reveals 36% new oak for 18 months, and quite low cropped Okanagan Falls Burgundian clones (2 tons per acre which is proper for a reserve-level wine). I'd love to see Liquidity adopt a full wild fermentation, and maybe tone back the new oak even more than they have. Liquidity Reserve Pinot Noir 2017

Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaA step up in structure, and depth, from their entry estate pinot noir, the Reserve is a blend of clones 667, 828, and 115, the latter own-rooted and planted in 1994. Whole berries were partially native fermented before being pressed off into French oak (36% new) for an 18 month rest. Textural and layered, with earthy cassis, wild plum, cracked pepper and toasted oak. Tannins are plush and supportive of the darker, wood-grain fruit.
