Abbazia di Novacella Schiava 2016
Trentino- Alto-Adige, ItalyAbbazia is a monastery founded in 1142 by the Augustinian Order of Canons Regular, and produces wine from their estate vineyards, complemented by neighbouring growers, like this schiava. After opening with a swing of reduction, this moves into balsamic, muddied blackcurrants, thorny plum, hints of spice, and sapid pitch. Tannins are soft, and acidity is bright and pixellated, both encouraging a chill and partnering with grilled sausages.Tasted: 26 May 2019Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $29.99 | 750ml | BCLS |
