Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaVRM sounds like 'vroom', and this is a hot-rod of a wine. Flashy and showy, it blends three highly aromatic grapes (viognier, roussanne, and marsanne farmed in the Similkameen Valley), fermenting some fruit in 33% new French oak and some in stainless steel. Extravagant stonefruit aromas start the race, and flavours of melon, guava, honeycrisp apple are refreshingly swathed in fruity acidity, and adorned with a pleasing herbal note. Interestingly the oak does not dominate the nose, but it sure drives the palate to a creamy, custardy, spicy finish line. Everything is in the right place, and while potent and spicy, VRM does not overheat. Some creamy food is in order, like deluxe mac and cheese with smoked cheddar and pork belly.Tasted: 31 October 2019Tasted by: Prices: BC 29.00 winery direct, VQA and private wine shops

Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaRich, potent and heady, this is a full-bodied blend of roussanne, viognier, and marsanne from Similkameen's Blind Creek Vineyard that sucks up every grade on the heat thermometer. Peach jam, apricot, lime curd, pear pie and heaps of ginger spicing flood the voluptuous palate, declared at 14.3 degrees. After whole bunch pressing and 24 hours of cold settling, it is fermented in French oak (25% new). The wine remained in barrel with regular battonage until the following summer. If you're looking for a creamy, hedonistic white to work alongside sweet/sour pork or chicken, this will do.Tasted: 28 April 2019Tasted by: Prices: BC 29.00 winery direct, VQA and private wine shops
