Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, CanadaFrom the oldest sauvignon blanc vines on the Island, in the tender, organic care of Mike & Robin Nierychlo, this is a singlular Wine Islands wine, and out of the few SB's I've tasted, by far the most convincing. 2018 saw this picked at the latest date ever, October 13. After destemming, this was left to soak for 24 hours, and then native fermented for 4 weeks in stainless, prior to 4 months left untouched on lees. Honeyed pineapple, tight green apple, lemon verbena flow along a textural, creamy palate, with zippy lemon zest spicing on the finish.Tasted: 29 April 2021Tasted by: Prices:

Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, CanadaWe continue to be impressed by this Vancouver Island sauvignon, grown organically in the Cowichan Valley. They are the oldest sauvignon vines on the island and seem to be thriving under the watch of Mike & Robin Nierychlo. The attack is floral with sweet rose and honeysuckle. On the palate, melon, starfruit, pear and kiwi is elegantly structured and punctuated with classic lemongrass before a candied lemon finish. It would be a good match with spicy tuna rolls or similarly spiced fish tacos. Always in short supply.Tasted: 31 March 2019Tasted by: Prices:
