Emandare Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2015

Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, CanadaEmandare sits on a south-facing terraced hillside tucked beside Cowichan Valley's Mount Prevost. All of their wines are estate grown, and dry farmed organically, with minimal intervention. A typical sauvvy this is not. This sauvignon blanc surprises with its sweetness and full body: 12 g/l RS is set against 3.2pH and 9 g/l TA. Wild ferment, this spent five months on the skins. Orange blossom, ripe pear, honey, meadow herbs, gentle anise on a round, creamy core. Bitter orange closes out the lingering finish. Hoping for a drier version in future. A lovely, entirely different expression of grape, rather an expression of place. Intriguing result, and an interesting project to followTasted: 09 January 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
