Mac Forbes Pinot Noir 2017
Yarra Valley, Victoria, AustraliaPouring a diaphenous light cherry hue, this is an elegant, lifted and pure pinot, intense with red fruit and light spice, but light and bright on the peppery palate. The Yarra Valley Pinot, their 'entry level' tier, blends declassified barrels from each of their single vineyard wines: Coldstream, Woori Yallock, Yarra Junction, Seville, Wesburn and Hoddles Creek, and four clones. Ten percent whole bunch, and partial foot stomped, this spent up to 30 days on skins, before 11 months in oak prior to being bottled unfined and unfiltered. Earthy cherry, raspberry, moss, whiffs of tobacco swell with an easy rise to the finely pepper smoked, spiced finish. Bright acid, tannins are whisper fine, more a suggestion to house the slight body. Twelve degrees alcohol, this is best with a light chill, this is a beauty example of where Yarra pinot is now. BC should pay attention to this.Tasted: 11 October 2018Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $36.00 | 750ml | private wine shops |
