La Crema Sonoma Coast Chardonnay 2016
Sonoma Coast, Sonoma County, California, United StatesUnlike its streamlined Monterey cousin, this Sonoma Coast Chardonnay is much broader shouldered, with red apple, lemon curd, ample baking spice, vanilla-clad oak cloaking the fuller body. There is still a line of lemon peel acidity, but this is certainly a more generous style. From across the Sonoma Coast, and a melange of clones 4, 5, 15, 17, 76, 95, 96, 809, Wente and Hyde Wente, this was barrel fermented and aged in a mix of French and American wood, 17 percent of which was new.
