Beringer Chardonnay Private Reserve 2015
Napa Valley, California, United StatesDescribed as a perfect year, the fruit was picked between August 28 and September 11 at Yountville’s Gamble Ranch in the Oakville AVA, surely the northern limit for chardonnay. This is the full meal deal, fermented in 66 percent new French oak barrels with weekly lees stirring and full malolactic leaving it soft and creamy with crème brûlée, pineapple and sweet tropical fruit. Big, rich, and yes, iconic by US standards, but this is a unique style now loved by many, as evidenced by its big Parker and Suckling scores. If you are a less is more chardonnay fan this may not be for you, but it’s what makes the wine world go round.Tasted: 30 October 2018Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $39.99 | 750ml | BCLS |
