Napa Valley, California, United StatesThe 2013 Private Reserve comes off Gamble Ranch in Oakville. This is one, soft, rich, polished chardonnay – a sort of new, old-style. Bake apple, honey, lees and spice mark the nose and introduce a rich, long, oily, soft palate of baked green apples, vanilla and creamy butterscotch flavours. I would serve this on the cool side to temper its rich alcoholic back end.
