Catena Malbec High Mountain Vines 2016

Mendoza, ArgentinaThis malbec is a blend of four high mountain estate vineyards from 920 meters to 1450 meters, overseen by Laura Catena and chief winemaker, Alejandro Vigil. Over the years Catena has shed some oak in favour of fruit, and it looks good on this wine. In 2016, a short season plagued with rain brought many challenges, although a crop load that was half the normal kept quality in check, and the cool weather in the end may be a blessing. At a mere 13 percent alcohol, it's a blast from the past, albeit a light one. The palate is a mix of violet and red plums. It’s a midweight year you can drink already and is well-suited to restaurants.Tasted: 14 September 2018Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices: BC 23.99 BCLS AB 23.63 private wine shops ON 19.95 LCBO - Essentials NS 24.00 NB 23.29 NBLiquor PEI 24.00 PLCC SK 25.99 SaskLiquor NF 23.90 NLLC MB 23.00 ManitobaLiquorMarts Producer: Bodega Catena ZapataDistributors: Trialto Wine Group
