Bartier Bros. Semillon 2015
Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe last time I tasted this wine, in 2018, it was pretty awkward, an adolescent phase that sémillon goes through between fresh and perky youth and honeyed, relaxed age. 2015 is now showing more towards the latter, with the honeyed character helping to even the keel. The vintage was frosted out, so yields were meagre and concentration very high. The Cerqueira Vineyard fruit was whole-cluster-pressed and native fermented in stainless, where it remained 4 months on lees. Honeycomb mixes with ripe pear and ample lees on a creamy palate, with scrubby herbs drawn along to a lengthy, ashen finish—quite a big impact for 12.9%, and a nice contrast to the recently released 2019 sém.Tasted: 13 October 2020Tasted by: Prices:BC | $25.99 | 750ml | winery direct, private and VQA wine shops |
