Polkura Block g + i Syrah 2012
Valle de Marchigue, Valle del Colchagua, Valle del Rapel, Region del Valle Central, ChileHighly reductive, meaty nose, not unusual for syrah, but this time with a hint of oxidation that could be cork, related to the cheap cork used for such a serious wine. Why? As the name suggests the syrah is block selected from a hillside in Marchigue, a relatively cooler zone in western Colchagua. Once you get past the nose, the wine offers up a showy, rich, glossy palate of smoky black fruit that persists long into the coffee/mocha finish.
