Meyer Family Vineyards Pinot Noir-Old Block McLean Creek Vineyard 2016

Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaMeyer Family Vineyards have carved a niche for themselves with their single vineyard pinot noirs and chardonnays. In this, the Old Block of their Okanagan Falls estate McLean Creek Vineyard, the clone is unknown, though the 2009 replanting has consistantly yielded impressive results from this steep, amply sun-struck site. This may be an old block, but these are young vines. This was 15 percent whole cluster, cold soaked before native ferment at warmer temperatures before transfer to French oak (30 percent new) for 11 months. Soft, round and plush, with forest berries, baked rhubarb, baking spices brightened by a persistent cranberry acidity. There's a flush of heat here poking through the structure that welcomes pork tenderloin or rabbit pairing. Confident and assured winemaking, and in the MFV style. This will continue to mellow and merge with age. Well done.Tasted: 07 March 2018Tasted by: Prices:
