Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe last word is made by co-fermenting 26/31/19 cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and malbec, picked together. The grapes spend a full month on skins in concrete before joining 24 percent merlot and aging 20 months in French oak. The style is full-bodied and dense with well-managed, fine-grained tannins. It’s full of black cherry, black raspberry with some boisterous baking spices and pepper sprinkled throughout. It’s beginning to settle into itself and should be drinking well through 2024. The Last Word is a true selection of top fruit and it's only made in exceptional years – there won’t be a 2015, 2016 or 2017.Tasted: 16 August 2018Tasted by: Prices:

Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe Last Word is the pinnacle red at CedarCreek, made only in the very best years. It is a month-long co-fermentation (on the skins), in concrete, of 26/31/19 cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and malbec, all picked at once. The merlot, 24 percent, is added before it all goes to barrel for 20 months in French oak. This is a rich, dense red, full of black cherry, black raspberry with some noisy baking spices and some youthful dry tannins in a peppery finish. This needs time to lose some of its extracted character although I suspect many more will be attracted now to its boisterous, hedonistic style. Best with grilled meats.Tasted: 29 March 2018Tasted by: Prices:

Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaCedarCreek makes the Platinum Ridge Meritage, as well as this Platinum tier Bordeaux blend, The Last Word. What's the difference? This wine was cofermented with cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and malbec picked together and spent a month-long ferment on the skins in concrete. The merlot was blended in separately to complement the rest, and all spent 20 months in French oak. This is a full, dense, red, with long, ample, well integrated tannins. Firm, dusty black cherry, black raspberry, sweet plum, tobacco, dried herbs, dusty gravels with a core of juicy red fruit. An alluring floral note darts throughout to a spicy, peppery finish. This is tasting very well in youth, but its full reward will come with time in the cellar. An impressive wine.Tasted: 01 March 2018Tasted by: Prices:
