Russian River, Sonoma County, California, United StatesGreg Morthole believes the best vineyard sites yield fruit that distinctively express the characteristics of its location, and so each year he blends his favorite blocks and clones from their River West Vineyard. 2014 was a super warm year that saw Morthole picking as early as August 13. In 2015, only 40 percent of the wine sees new oak, and the remainder is 2-4 years-old, and it all gets monthly bâtonnage. I love the fresh citrus styling and creamy lees notes with a background of floral, tropical, pear tones. Serve with creamy cheeses, vegetable ravioli or mushroom pasta.
