Martin's Lane Simes Vineyard Pinot Noir 2014

East Kelowna, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaSimes is a cooler, steep, north-facing vineyard in East Kelowna, with granite-based soils, and planted to pinot noir clones 943 and 667. The northern aspect is rare, giving this already cooler site some additional freshness. After a native ferment, the two clones (picked a couple weeks apart) were aged in extra tight grain French oak for 17 months (18 percent new) before being bottled unfiltered. This is the inaugural vintage for this wine, one of three single vineyard pinot noirs released in 2014. Reserved and tight black fruit, cherry is stencilled with fine grained spices and granite to a pencil lead finish. Tannins are firm, and there is great energy tucked into this youthful wine, ready to evolve with cellaring. Proper cool climate pinot noir, and an impressive one.Tasted: 18 October 2018Tasted by: Prices: BC 100.00 winery direct Producer: Martin's Lane WineryDistributors: Mark Anthony Wines and Spirits
