Stag's Hollow Pinot Noir 2015

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaA mix of five clones from Shuttleworth Creek Vineyard is behind this cedary, smoky, tomato leaf scented pinot with charcoal dusted tannins. Destemmed into open top fermenters, with ample punch downs before being pressed into French oak (13 percent new). After MLF, the wine spends an additional 13 months on fine lees before being racked, blended and bottled unfined and unfiltered. A bit disjointed at this point and surprisingly cool given the vintage with cassis and black cherry fruit filtered with black pepper and smoke. Tannins are fine, gritty, and firm but with acidity to match the warm finish. There's a whisper of pinot noir finesse here, but you must search for it.Tasted: 20 October 2017Tasted by: Treve Ring & Anthony GismondiPrices:
