Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe Roche tasting room is now open in Naramata, providing a perfect opportunity to pre-taste this pinot gris that is unlike most in the valley. The richness comes from a barrel fermentation in neutral French oak. You get the air and the lees, but not the oak. It rich and round but in a much more subtle manner, playing on ginger, pears and citrus flavours. This is food friendly and would be perfect with halibut and an orchard fruit salsa.
