Road 13 Marsanne Low Yield Wines 2016

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaIt's been a couple of years since I last tasted Road 13's Marsanne, and it remains as striking and intense as ever. Fermented in French oak barrels (one third new) where they remained with monthly battonage until the following spring bottling. Two percent viognier is splashed in for additional seasoning. Only 75 cases were made, so if you find it, grab it. Intense perfumed gooseberries, passionfruit, quince, rosewater, marzipan rides a waxy palate, full-bodied, but thankfully held taut with pink grapefruit briskness. Like a rhino, this is big and lumbering (in theory), but picks up speed and glides (impressive 13.6 percent) once it gets moving.Tasted: 02 August 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
