Tantalus Old Vines Riesling Brut 2014
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaStriking, potent and direct, with a sharp chalkiness, green apple chisel, red apple grip, smoked stone in a driving, persistent, linear frame. For all its intensity, this impressive fizz, from 1978 planted vines, streams lightness and lift. This spent two years on the lees before disgorgement in spring 2017, and a dosage of Tantalus' Old Vine Riesling (wow). Electric and nervy, with a lingering white grapefruit pith, this is an energetic wine in youth, and one that will continue to deepen and build with cellaring.
