Tolaini Picconero Tenuta Montebello 2010
Castelnuovo Berardenga, Siena, Tuscany, ItalyIt’s hard not to like this wine at six years old. It’s still a few years away from its peak, but it is impressive in the glass. The blend is 65/30/5 merlot, cabernet sauvignon and petit verdot. Dense and muscular, it has a rich entry spilling across the palate with fine-grained tannin and deep dark cassis, mulberries and black cherries. A savoury, mineral undercurrent keeps it focused and linear. All new French oak gives it a framework to age, while the long, silky finish persists for minutes in your mouth. Well done.Tasted: 06 January 2017Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $120.00 | 750ml | private wine shops |
