Ruffino Riserva Ducale Oro Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2011
Tuscany, ItalyThe appearance of Gran Selezione on Chianti labels (retroactive to 2010) marks a producer’s best effort. Reserva Ducale Oro Riserva has its own mystique marked by decades of being Ruffino’s top Tuscan red. Oak dominates the nose, subduing the nuances of this 85/15 sangiovese blended with colorino, merlot and cabernet sauvignon. Round, soft and ripe, this earthy, black fruited, full-bodied red has supple, tuggy tannins and is scented with cardamom, black peppery, anise and potent tobacco. The 2011 is ready to drink now with lamb manicotti or lasagne. Not as elegant as previous editions; drink now through 2020.Tasted: 23 January 2017Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Treve RingPrices:BC | $46.99 | 750ml | BCLS |
