Ruffino Riserva Ducale Oro Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2010

Tuscany, ItalyChianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG signifies the top of the quality pyramid of Chianti, sourced from the heartland of the historic region and produced, aged and presented with no expense. This is a blend of 80 percent sangiovese, with the remainder made up of cabernet sauvignon and merlot. After up to 28 days fermentation, the wines were transferred into concrete vats, where the best were selected for maturation in Slovenian large format wood barrels for one year, and then transferred into small barriques for one additional year. Ripe black cherry, supple leather and anise continue onto the full bodied palate, where sweet tobacco, ripe plum and cinnamon bark come into play. Tannins are ample and sinewy, worn just enough to take the edge off, but with promise of a ways to go. Bittersweet chocolate lingers on the powdery, warm finish, one that welcomes wild boar or grilled steak. Decant now, or hold for 3+ years to allow this to merge and blend further.Tasted: 04 March 2016Tasted by: Prices:
