Culmina Family Estate Haut-Plateau Riesling No. 001 2016

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaCulmina has launched the first in a series of one-off wines they are calling the Number Series to showcase “the best of our research and development from any given vintage.” Up first at Nº 001 is the Haut-Plateau Riesling, a super late-picked riesling with 31 grams per litre of residual sugar that floods across the palate. Foie Gras is the power rich match. I tried it with a curried chicken dish and the sweet pear juice with a mineral/lemon undercurrent did its best to hold its own against the long syrupy finish. It’s a perfectly safe style that is long sold out but may we suggest Nº 002 be a little more daring, a little more electric.Tasted: 03 January 2017Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
