Sonoma County, California, United StatesPouring an opaque hue, this is a full bodied Sonoma County blend of zinfandel, petite sirah, carignane and alicante bouschet but with a sense of freshness on the palate. Low yields, old vines and wild ferment before 19 months in French oak (40 percent new) has resulted in a dense, but smooth ripe red, with supple tannins well supporting the medicinal cherry, ripe blackberry, black plum fruit. Espresso and cinnamon add seasoning to the generous palate, and linger on the slightly sweet but well balanced back end.
