Marionette Pulcinella 2014

British Columbia, CanadaMarionette is a new BC winery located in Salmon Arm and run by a young couple with winemaking experience in France, Spain and the UK. Amanda and Jamie returned to BC and founded Marionette two years ago, focussing on low intervention wines. Pulcinella is 100 percent zweigelt, from Ladyhawke Vineyards in Keremeos. A pre-fermentation maceration ups the extract here, while time in stainless and lack of filtration aim at maintaining purity. Light and bright on the palate, with herbal raspberry, tart rhubarb, light blossoms and tight, tart black cherry. Tannins are astringent, though fine, and provide a firm base for the gentle silkiness on the lean palate. A stripped down, severe style that needs food to shine.Tasted: 17 December 2016Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
